Thousands of entrepreneurs, students, investors, and professionals attended the Twin Cities Startup Week festival. Kipsu hosted a panel featuring Kipsu's longest-tenured team members. Although like Lyft, Airbnb, and Snapchat receive the lion's share of media attention in the startup space for their breakneck growth on the back of billions of dollars of fundraising, these "unicorns" are far from the reality of most startups. Kipsu's team discussed with attendees the importance of maintaining company culture, setting realistic growth expectations, and lessons learned from the company's growth.
On Wednesday, October 16, TCSW drew to a close at the Science Museum of Minnesota with an awards ceremony recognizing startups nominated across a variety of categories. Kipsu received nominations in the Voyager and Operational Excellence categories and took home the Voyager award. The Voyager award recognizes a startup that successfully bootstrapped their organization.
