Celebrating Our Kipsu Mothers!

Happy Mother's Day from Kipsu to you! We wanted to celebrate this special day by highlighting one of our amazing Kipsu moms, Victoria Schanen. Victoria has been at Kipsu for almost one year and leads our recruiting and development efforts. She has two children, Lamont and Vincent, who enjoy catching bugs, fishing, and pranking each other. They are also wonderful colorers- moreover, the whole Kipsu team gets to enjoy their fun artwork hanging around Victoria's office! To celebrate such a great mother and teammate, we asked Victoria to answer a few questions about what it is like being a mother while also working on the Kipsu Executive team.

1. What activities do you and your husband enjoy doing with your kids?

My husband and I enjoy sledding, wrestling, biking, painting, and watching our favorite movies from when we were kids with our children.

2. What is your favorite part about being a mom?

Falling in love again every day - well, almost every day! - as I watch and guide them through delights, struggles, and accomplishments.

3. What advice do you have for us as a mother?

Timeouts are surprisingly universal! Sometimes you just need to pause and hit the reset button. Waiting until the morning to review a highly-charged email draft before sending it is one non-parenting example of a timeout.

4. What benefits does Kipsu provide for mothers?

I was really proud to add parental leave to our benefits slate earlier this year. Less than 10% of companies offer any kind of paid leave, and Kipsu offers it to both mothers and fathers!

5. How do you balance time as a Kipsu Executive and as a mother?

You have to let go of some things and then make peace with what no longer fits.

6. Anything else you would like to share?

Parenthood is one of the greatest sacrifices that brings days which are grueling, hilarious, stressful, humbling, and rewarding - sometimes within the same day! I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.
