Happy Father's Day from Kipsu to you! We wanted to celebrate this special day by highlighting one of our amazing Kipsu fathers, Alex Buddington. Alex has been at Kipsu for about a year and a half now, and is part of our on-boarding and training leaders at Kipsu. He has two children, Owen and Olive. Alex recently welcomed baby Olive to the family and is excited to be a father of two and for Owen to be a big brother! Alex loves being active with his kids and enjoys going to parks, farmer's markets, and just being outside as much as possible. We asked Alex to answer a few questions about what it is like being a father while also working at Kipsu.
1. Owen and Olive- How did you pick your kids names?
It took my wife and I a little while to agree on names. Neither of the names have any symbolic meaning, but both names came naturally to us and seemed to fit right away!
2. What activities do you and your wife enjoy doing with your kids?
Taking walks around the lake, going to the park, going to farmer’s markets, and playing with our dogs. We try to be as active as possible during the summer since we tend to be stuck inside during the cold Minnesota winters.
3. What is your favorite part about being a dad?
I love watching our kids grow, learn, and evolve. Being a dad also allows me to channel my inner child: I get to play with legos and monster trucks every day now!
4. What advice do you have for us as a dad?
It's a lot of work, but it can be the most rewarding thing in life. Take the opportunities to slow down and cherish the time you have with your kids. As Ferris Bueller said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
5. How do you balance time as a Kipsuvian and as a dad?
Fortunately, Kipsu provides me with the ability to have a flexible schedule and supportive work-life balance. With daycare drop-off and pick-up, doctor’s appointments, swimming lessons, and plenty of other activities to manage, I know that I can be available for my family while also managing my tasks here at Kipsu.
6. Anything else you would like to share?
I'm proud to be a part of a small but close-knit group of dads here at Kipsu. Day in and day out, we’re working hard to bring the best dad jokes to the office.
